This week saw the launch of a heartfelt creative collaboration with my twin sister, Helen Harrop which seeks to raise awareness of heart disease, and hopefully raise some money along the way. Visit the ‘Hope is where the He:art is’ blog to find out more.
The idea used to launch the collaboration is a simple one; sell hand made cards, and use all of the profits to benefit others. 20% of that profit has been pledged to support the work of the British Heart Foundation. ‘How nice’, I hear you say. Nice enough, but then we had an idea; what if there was a way to increase the value of that donation five-fold? What if instead of giving the 20% share of the profit straight to the BHF, we used that money to make more cards and donated them for sale in BHF shops? Suddenly £10 becomes £50, £20 becomes £100 and so on and so forth.
What if we could find enough people who want to support the British Heart Foundation that we could get the cards into every BHF shop across the UK? That would be one spectacular mission, right? Well, we’re going to give it a shot, all we need to find now are some willing donors…Is that you? (please say yes) Just click the ‘donate’ button below and make a donation of £7.50 £12.50, £17.50 or whatever amount you can afford and we will make cards* to send to a BHF shop of your choice, where your donation will be transformed into £20, £50, £75 or more. *£7.50 buys 10 cards, £12.50 buys 20 cards, £17.50 buys 30 cards, you get the idea. £2.50 of your donation covers mailing costs. (Donations and production are being handled by the trustworthy Stripey Mouse, who will e-mail you to confirm your donation has been received)
Everyone who donates £22.50 or more will receive a He:art card as a thank you (tip: they look really good framed). Don’t forget to let us know which BHF shop you want your cards to be sent to, they will receive a letter with your details so that they know who to thank.
British Heart Foundation is just one charity you could support this way, it’s an idea that would work for any charity. Why don’t you create a card, or make something that a charity shop could sell. You might be able to make something so cheaply that your donation is increased ten-fold…the possibilities are endless.
Come back with an update on any ideas you’ve had and your achievement will be shared here.
If we could just do things differently, maybe we could create a different future.
